Every year, more than 1.9 million people — students, veterans, families, and global citizens — walk the hallowed grounds of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, where the echoes of December 7, 1941 still resonate. It is here that visitors confront the tragedy of war, reflect on the cost of freedom, and leave with a deeper understanding of the enduring importance of peace and preparedness.
The current Visitor Orientation Center — the gateway to the Memorial experience — is sinking. Built decades ago on unstable soil, the building is deteriorating and no longer able to meet the needs of the growing number of visitors who come to learn, remember, and honor. Without immediate action, we risk losing a vital interpretive and educational resource that connects new generations with the stories of courage, sacrifice, and resilience that define Pearl Harbor.
Pacific Historic Parks, in partnership with the National Park Service, has launched a bold initiative to raise $20 million — half the projected cost of a new, state-of-the-art Pearl Harbor Visitor Orientation Center. This new facility will not only stabilize and expand our capacity to welcome the world, but will elevate the experience with modern exhibitions, multimedia storytelling, and expanded space for educational programming.
When you give to this campaign, you become a Pearl Harbor Hero — a modern guardian of our nation’s history. Donors will be recognized as Plank Owners of the new Visitor Orientation Center, a title traditionally given to original crew members of a newly commissioned Navy ship.
