Along the edge of Pearl Harbor’s iconic Ford Island shoreline lie the Battleship Row Quays — silent sentinels of sacrifice that once moored the might of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. On the morning of December 7, 1941, these very quays anchored the battleships USS Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Maryland, and West Virginia — vessels that came under ferocious attack in an assault that changed the course of world history.

Today, the quays still stand. But time has taken its toll.

Worn by the elements, stained with corrosion, and long overdue for repair, these historic structures are in critical need of restoration and preservation. Their deterioration threatens not only the physical condition of these artifacts — but the memory and honor of the brave sailors and Marines who fought and fell there.

Pacific Historic Parks, in collaboration with the National Park Service, is launching a $2.5 million campaign to fully restore, preserve, and interpret these quays for the more than 1.9 million annual visitors who walk these sacred grounds.

This is our chance to restore the physical foundation of Battleship Row — so that every visitor sees not decay, but dignity.

Battleship Row Quays Restoration

Preserving the Quays, Preserving the Legacy

Each quay tells a distinct story of courage, loss, and legacy. These structures provided moorage to the greatest ships of the Pacific Fleet — and each bore witness to chaos, valor, and sacrifice on the “date which will live in infamy.”

Battleship Row Quays Restoration

Why This Matters

The quays of Battleship Row are not just old concrete — they are sacred relics of a turning point in American and global history.

  • They provide authentic context for the stories of the USS Arizona and her sister ships.
  • They offer visitors a powerful physical connection to the day Pearl Harbor was attacked.
  • They honor the memory of the more than 2,400 Americans killed on that day — many of them right alongside these structures.
  • By restoring these historic moorings, we ensure that their stories — the stories of sailors, Marines, shipmates, and survivors — remain vivid, visible, and valued.
